the 2009 Pro Bono Institute Seminar
and Forum on In-House Corporate Pro Bono
March 5, 6, and 7, 2009

The Pro Bono Institute Annual Seminar is the legal profession’s premier global pro bono event and the only conference specifically tailored to the interests, needs, resources, and emerging and evolving issues faced by law firm leaders – chairs, managing partners, practice group and office leaders, pro bono committee chairs and members, pro bono partners, counsel, coordinators, and other pro bono-responsible legal staff – involved in the direction, oversight, support, and administration of major law firms and their pro bono programs.

The Annual Forum on In-House Corporate Pro Bono, presented in conjunction with the Pro Bono Institute’s Annual Pro Bono Seminar, is this year’s premier global pro bono event. It is the only conference specifically tailored to the interests, needs, resources, and emerging and evolving issues faced by corporate in-house lawyers and legal staff involved in the direction, oversight, support, and administration of the fast-growing number of legal departments with formal pro bono programs. The Forum and Seminar offer a unique opportunity to address issues of corporate compliance, reputation, and corporate social responsibility from a legally-oriented and critically important perspective – that of pro bono public service.

For in-house leaders and staff, this event offers, in one place at one time, the most comprehensive and high-quality information on the emerging field of in-house pro bono – tested ideas and concrete guidance that will enhance the performance, efficiency, effectiveness, and stature of your department and its pro bono efforts.

Public interest and legal services leaders may participate, on an invitation-only basis, in a portion of the Seminar. To request additional information or if you are not on the invitation list, please click here:

Attendance at the 2008 Seminar/Forum was so high that PBI was forced to close registration early, denying a number of potential registrants the opportunity to attend the conference due to the limited function space at the Willard, the 2008 headquarters hotel. In addition, a number of sessions at the conference were overfilled beyond capacity, and attendees were directed to second-choice sessions. To address these issues, the 2009 Seminar/Forum will be held at a new venue, the Renaissance Washington Hotel, conveniently located at 999 9th Street, NW. The recently remodeled hotel has stunning views, a 10,000 square foot fitness center, including a 60-foot heated indoor pool, and, for the very early risers among us, an onsite Starbuck's! Most important for the Seminar/Forum, the hotel has the event space that will permit the Seminar to grow, meet the needs of attendees for more space and sleeping rooms, and can accommodate different room set-ups that will enhance interactive learning.
